GENERAL COMMENCEMENT: University-wide ceremony where degrees are conferred en masse.

Students or guests with disabilities attending Commencement activities can request accommodations through the Center for Disability Services at (801) 581-5020 (voice/TDD). Please give reasonable prior notice to arrange accommodations.

Cap and Gown Orders and announcements and other materials must be ordered through the University Bookstore. Please see the Bookstore website for information. Cap and gowns can be ordered and picked-up at the Grad Fair, April 1-3. Order deadline is April 3.

College of Science Convocation 2009

Friday, May 8th, at 11:30 a.m.
Kingsbury Hall, Presidents Circle

All students graduating from the College of Science will have degrees conferred during the College convocation ceremony in Kingsbury Hall.

11:00 AM Graduates please arrive at Kingsbury Hall in cap and gown and form a line along the WEST side (outside) sidewalk of Kingsbury Hall. All graduates will enter from the WEST side entrance. Ushers will be present to direct you. Note: Doctorate and Master's candidates, do not wear your degree "hood" before the ceremony. Instead, your hood should be carried over your left arm. You will be seated on stage, and will be "hooded" during the ceremony.

11:15 AM sharp! Graduates are escorted into Kingsbury Hall west entrance. Don't be late!

11:30 AM Convocation ceremony begins.

HOW IT WORKS: All candidates must assemble along the WEST sidewalk of Kingsbury Hall no later than 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8th. Graduates will enter a special entrance and be directed to sit in the designated reserved section. Ushers will be present to assist you.

Graduates will be handed a card and pencil. Please complete the card. During the awarding of degrees, you will hand the card to a designated reader stationed on the stage. You will then cross the stage to receive your diploma cover as your name is announced. In order to prevent confusion, please follow the directions of the ushers.

Doctorate and Masters candidates should carry their hood draped over their left arm. (Master's and Doctoral graduates, DO NOT wear hood prior to ceremony).

ACADEMIC REGALIA: Cap and Gown orders must be made through the University of Utah Bookstore. Please see the Bookstore website for information. Cap and gowns can be ordered and picked-up at the Grad Fair, April 2-4. Deadline for all orders is Friday, April 4.

PICTURES: Gammell Photography will photograph all graduates. Gammell will mail a color proof to each graduate. Please note that you are under no obligation to purchase these photographs. A member of your family or a friend may take photographs as desired as long as they do not disrupt the ceremony.

PARKING: Please park in Rice-Eccles stadium lot, or other parking lots near Kingsbury Hall. Shuttle service will run to/from the stadium lot to Kingsbury Hall. Avoid driving and/or parking on Presidents Circle.

WHO IS INVITED: Family and friends may attend the College of Science convocation. This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
